Alexandra Cárdenas Studio

Welcome to Alexandra Cárdenas Studio!

At Alexandra Cárdenas Studio, we create immersive and interactive installations that bring together music, art, technology, and a deep respect for the environment. Our work explores live coding, creative coding, and digital technologies to produce installations that inspire and connect people. Operating as an online and itinerant studio, we collaborate with communities worldwide, offering innovative ways to experience and create with digital technologies while fostering a stronger connection to nature.

The studio is a space for exploring new ideas and sharing knowledge, combining creative coding tools with the expression of music, sound, and visual art. We strive to bring programming to new environments beyond the computer screen, developing intuitive interfaces that allow audiences to connect with music creation and programming in accessible and engaging ways. By using open-source technologies and engaging with people of all ages, we aim to make these tools more accessible. Our works educate about music, visuals, and programming, fostering opportunities for learning, collaboration, and meaningful creative expression through installations.

Life Codes: An Immersive, Interactive Installation About Live Coding

Life Codes is an immersive, interactive installation that explores the possibilities of algorithmic composition through live coding. The piece invites audiences to experience a constantly evolving environment that bridges the digital and the physical by de-mystifying the inner workings of generative music and visuals. The installation creates a space where visitors can interact with the algorithms shaping the sound and visuals, offering an intuitive and educational perspective on algorithmic music creation and programming.

Life Codes will be on display from September 20, 2024, to June 29, 2025, at the EPFL Pavilions in Lausanne, Switzerland, as part of the exhibition Musica ex Machina.
